Breeding Rights
I have so many people ask about breeding rights... hopefully this will answer any questions you may have if you are wanting to be a breeder or have a breeding dog/ pair from 4Feathers.
I have been extremely blessed with mentors through the years. I appreciate the knowledge shared in having a breeding program and I do take it very seriously in everyday life here at the farm. When folks ask for full rights, I don't just consider my lines/ pedigrees, I think of ALL people involved who have worked hard with their lines/pedigrees through the years. I was once told breeding is not all puppy love and snuggles, and there was never a truer statement. I certainly had my trials starting out, and literally gave up, but it was in my heart to raise Australian Shepherds. Not every puppy is perfectly born, not every dam is naturally the perfect mother, not every sire produces what you think he will. No matter how hard you attempt for perfection, one day, one month, one year, SOMETHING can AND will go wrong, despite ALL your hard work, your efforts to your Aussies, your grounds, your entire program can be detoured, then you have the money aspect of it... this is not a "get rich" scheme by no means, if you break even you are truly doing something fantastic. In todays market, it takes nearly three to four puppies to support the litter, which does not count the mothers wellbeing while nursing and then weaning, that is all on the breeder...THIS is the reality of breeding. With that all being said, the joys of raising Aussies definitely outweighs the trials in my opinion. To see that smile on persons face of meeting their new best friend, erases on the birthpains it takes to get to that point. If this still sounds like something you are interested in...keep reading...
My Australian Shepherds are STANDARDS... that means not allowing my aussies to be bred to toys, minis, doodles, auggies or any other designer breed. I am not a dog snob, I love ALL breeds of dogs, but it is a must to keep the Aussie lines clean, not only for myself, but others who have been a part of the pedigrees before 4Feathers (C4) ever existed. The dogs are tested through Paw Prints/ Canine Health, now Orivet Genetic Pet Care, for the Aussie panel. My Aussies are AKC, AKC/ASCA or ASCA registered, therefore their potential mates will also need to be of the same registry. With any full rights considered, whether you have bred Aussies for 50 years or just starting out, I will ask questions to ensure a 4Feathers Australian Shepherd is a good fit for you and your program.
No matter gender or color, approved breeding rights, with a breeding contract is $2000.00 in the United States, breeding dogs outside of the US is $3500.00.
